A Bespoke reader sent in additional photos of workers at the old Lenox Lounge site just south of 125th Street. Restauranteur Richard Notar promises a fall opening but this type of announcement has been pretty inaccurate over the past year since several opening dates have come and gone already.
As can be seen in the photos, the gutting of the iconic lounge is still happening after all of these months and not much has gone on in actually restoring the space. If we are lucky, maybe a December holiday opening could happen at the rate things are going. This is the only big food opening so far for 2014 for this part of town and it will almost be 2 years in the making by the time things finish up.
I'm so excited for this. I hope it's fast tracked. My wife and I live just a few blocks away, and we can't wait to visit when it's ready.
