READ: BED BATH AND BEYOND ARRIVING ON 125TH

A Post article written yesterday announces that Bed Bath and Beyond has secured a lease for the new construction being built currently at 5 West 125th Street.  This location just west of Fifth Avenue has been a vacant lot for quite some times and was rumored to eventually become a hotel about 5 years ago.  An original rendering on the plywood space only shows two floors of commercial storefront but the article now mentions that 30 rental units will be built on top of the 130,000 square-foot development when all is completed: LINK

  1. OMG this is great news. I love shopping there. I hope thenew building on Lexington and 125th street brings along a Trader Joe's

  2. There's more in there. There will be a WeWork with a 126th St. entrance. WeWork is an office share/coworker idea that emphasizes a creative work environment. They tend to choose quite trendy locations and as near as I can tell, this is by far the farthest north they have come in NYC.

  3. Definitely exciting! The article didn't give a timeline - hopefully 2015! Love seeing some of the action on 125th come closer to Fifth and other points East.

  4. Trader Joes is not coming to Harlem any time soon. They do not venture into transitional neighborhoods unlike Whole Foods... I am very excited for Bed Bath and Beyond and WeWork... I hope there is much more to follow on 125th!

  5. While not terribly excitg, this is one of those things that is super useful to have. I am fine with 125th street having mostly chains as long as we have boutique establishments elsewhere. I do like that they are building housing in this development as well. There are not a ton of large lots left in Harlem and I would rather have these modern type rentals/condos on 125th street than other areas where there is architecture to preserve

  6. This is phenomenal, and a smart move by Bed Bath & Beyond. They'll do extremely good business here. I love that Harlem is becoming a place that has the establishments and restaurants that pay homage to its diverse roots, while also modernizing and welcoming the amenities that make it an even better place to live. Very exciting.
