BEST HARLEM SHOP 2014: FLAME KEEPERS HAT CLUB

The retail scene uptown in the past decade either was rather far-reaching or the extreme opposite end of  the shopping spectrum.  Then Flame Keepers Hat Club appeared in South Harlem along St. Nicholas Avenue by 121st Street this fall and things started to look very Bespoke.  Traditional hats have been in style for fashion-forward men for nearly a decade now and the new storefront has a wide assortment of chapeaus that feature neutral or more contemporary color combinations.

Marc Williamson founded the new boutique after being in the millinery industry for several years and knows his brands, quality details, along with the proper trends to exhibit.  For some reason, a lot of better retailers uptown are startups by former stylist and thus the offerings tend to be a little flashy.  Flame Keepers breaks the current mold of expected stores in Harlem and the constant flow of foot traffic within the shop each day proves that good taste can indeed bring in the crowds.  Check out the official website for more details:  www.flamekeepershatclub.com
