SEE: THE KOREAN STREET FESTIVAL ON 134TH
It was a surprise to us that there was even a Korean public charter school in Harlem so we had to check out the 2nd Annual Korean Street Festival sponsored by Democracy Prep this past Saturday. A couple of thousand showed up for the event that was just like any street fair in the city but the focus was on everything Korean. Free food brought in the crowds who wanted to try out bulgogi, japchae, bibimbap, pajeon, kimchi and much more while students from various grade levels had performance throughout the afternoon. This well organized festival also had various family friendly stalls that featured traditional games, lantern making, Korean calligraphy, photo booths for those dressing up in hanbok and even a language tutor walking the streets with phrases to learn. Those who want to find out more about this annual festival and the associated school should check out the official website: LINK
