READ: HARLEM CAFE ARRIVING ON ST. NICHOLAS
The New York Post reports that the restaurant group one of the investors behind Harlem Tavern will be opening a new establishment at the former laundromat on the corner of Hancock and St. Nicholas Avenue. This location just south of 125th Street is really ideal because of the express train entrance on the block which is probably the most important requirement for leasing a larger space. Other celebrity restauranteurs still have not figure out how to break into the Harlem dining scene but the local veterans seem to be doing a good job at expanding. Tentatively this new eatery will be called the Harlem Cafe. More details in the post: LINK

This is great news and well done to the Harlem Tavern folks who bring accessible dining and drinking to Harlem. But surely they could do better than "Harlem Cafe." On another note, what would be amazing if they made this into a Diner - the location and scale are perfect for a diner (which tend to be on/near busy streets and usually are large spaces). Lot of cafe's already in Harlem. I even have a name. The Hancock

ReplyDeleteMaybe the same reason that so many Brooklyn places have Brooklyn in their name.
