BESPOKE: DEAR MAMA COFFEE IN EL BARRIO
Dear Mama Coffee on 109th Street just east of 2nd Avenue opened up in the past few weeks and is probably the most impressive contemporary cafe to debut thus far in East Harlem. The space itself is over 1,500 square feet with a large bar, main living room and multiple side table seatings also included. All of the walls are covered in pop art canvases and most the finishes are midcentury modern which makes the interior more welcoming than some of new construction spaces found in Harlem.
This 30-seater makes the majority of the baked goods offered but also ships in some notable donut and breads from greater NYC suppliers. We do not have much of sweet tooth when it comes to breakfast so ordered the Bacon Egg & Cheese on Ciabatta and it probably was the most perfectly cooked soft scramble to be found uptown. Those in El Barrio who like wide open spaces should definitely check out Dear Mama Coffee from 7:00AM to 7:00PM every day of the week but also should make sure to sample the menu since there is a lot of really good stuff to be had. The owners are also really attentive and cordial which is always a plus.
