ARCHITECTURE: NEW ADDITION ON WEST 126TH
West 126th Street just east of Lenox Avenue still has a handful of abandoned brownstones but some are finally getting the renovations that they need. At the current price point for a shell, many developers are adding on floors at top to maximize the square footage and one such building finished up over the summer. Number 68 West 126th Street actually had its original cornice in place but the new owners decide to create one of their own after constructing additional floors. Since the old cornices were pretty much standard in design, one of the neighbors probably could have used it since fabricating a new one is quite expensive. Overall the block has improved greatly over the past few years and we hope to see more aesthetically correct construction going forward.
