BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT 2016: FUMO

Harlem now has quite a few Italian restaurants or wood-oven pizzerias and Fumo in Hamilton Heights is the best pick of the year for the best spot for the aforementioned ethnic fare.  The poshly renovated white  space with classic details was more than enough to get our attention and we immediately fell in love with the approachable pasta dishes, light fritto appetizers, fresh greens and the hearty pizza offerings.  This 60-seater at the corner of 139th and Amsterdam is not overly fussy so families tend to favor the eatery during the day but the decor is polished enough for a date for adults in the evening.
