BESPOKE DIARIES: NO MASK, NO SERVICE

Harlem Bespoke:  We walked around this past week to get some exercise before grabbing groceries and noticed that uptown has definitely embraced wearing masks as a way of life.  Merchants selling masks for $1 are also on 125th Street and a vast majority of younger people now wear masks alongside the older generation.  Part of the reason is that the stores currently have the right to not let folks in if they do not wear face cover and signs are up stating as much.  No shirt, no shoes, no service is something we see posted on stores in warmer states and the new masks signage is reminiscent to those situations.

Another notable point is that shoppers were actually patient while waiting six feet apart in line and automatically stepped aside so that those exiting can leave the store easily.  In a hustle and bustle city like New York, manners sometimes fall to the wayside but the pandemic now has everyone being more aware of personal space.  Sidewalk rules are unfortunately not so regulated and the general path of just sticking to the right side of the pavement does not always seem to happen.
