☞ EAT: Yatenga at Opening Night

UPDATE: THIS WAS THE GRAND OPENING PARTY BUT THE RESTAURANT MAY NOT BE OPEN ON A FULL SCHEDULE. CALL 212.690.0699 IN ADVANCE TO CHECK ON HOURS. We were suspicious that the opening night might not make its self-imposed deadline, but Yatenga made its debut successfully last evening. It was only a week ago when the old storefront of the previous space was still in its well-worn state, and work only looked like it had been started very recently. Exactly one week later, a beautiful restaurant has appeared with a boho chic interior that feels more Soho than what most have seen in central Harlem. The opening party was heavy on drinks, but the packed space didn't really work out for those seeking a quiet dinner. ACP/7th Avenue, above 125th Street just got very interesting with the combination of the Shrine lounge next door and the decidedly directional new French bistro. Yatenga French Bistro is on the east side of 2269 Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard (7th Avenue), just below 134th Street, with the nearest trains the B or the 2,3 express at 135th Street. See our past post on Yatenga: LINK. Photos by Ulysses.

  1. Unfortunately, they may have had an opening party, but they do not yet have an open establishment. I was deceived by this piece into going over to grab dinner only to see an empty space that was covered with construction workers. I was quite disappointed, and felt a bit tricked.

  2. We apologize for based on the information we received, we believed that the restaurant was officially open. Apparently only a soft opening at this point, we will be up to date on the true timeline by next week.

  3. I wonder why they were so quick to have an opening party when they're not even completely open yet. Seems like they have a built in clientele give Shrine next door so would make sense to wait an have opening party when the place was really open. this is good to know anyways because i was considering heading there for dinner this week. - oni
