☞ LISTEN: The MMP Landmark Extension

Today, March 16th, 7:00 PM at the Rice High School Library. Simeon Bankoff, Executive Director, Historic Districts Council, the citywide advocate for New York's designated Historic Districts and for neighborhoods meriting preservation, will discuss with the community the pros and the concerns of extending the Mount Morris Park Historic District to included the side streets from West 118th to West 123rd from Lenox Avenue to ACP/7th Avenue. This meeting is part of the monthly Mount Morris Park Community Improvement Association which has been around for almost three decades. The Rice High School Library is on 74 West 124 Street at Lenox Avenue with the closest train the 2,3 on 125th Street. mmpicia.org

  1. This makes perfect sense as there are many architecturally significant Brownstones on these blocks between Lenox and ACP. This relationship is made more apparent when the MMP district house tour always includes many homes on these blocks, making these blocks a recognized part of the MMP district. Sorry to be picky but ACP is 7th Ave, not 8th Ave.

  2. The MMPCIA meetings are well worth attending but unfortunately are on the second floor at Rice and not wheelchair accessible, making it near impossible for anyone not able to make stairs, including many older people.
