☞ REVIVE: East 125th Street and Third Avenue
Continuing the government streak of developments starting in the past couple of weeks is the huge corner lot on East 125th Street and Third Avenue. The top photo shows corner about six months ago with no signs of life or intent for the long vacant lot. The second shot was taken last week and a new plywood fence can be seen with signage up heralding development. The close-up shot shows that there will be an unnamed eight-story, 45 unit affordable housing project on the site that will be finished by September next year (click photo to enlarge). As of this week, construction workers have started digging on the site with heavy machinery. It's great to see that at least some of the remaining lots on East 125 Street are showing signs of activity. The nearest train to this location is the 4,5,6 at 125th Street. All photos by Ulysses.

The 6-8 level affordable housing blends in with the neighborhood. Thank god they are getting away from the towers like the ones in the first photo. Those are HIDEOUS!
ReplyDeleteThis is part of the major mixed residential/commercial development planned for 125th and Third Avenue. There are MUCH bigger plans for the NE corner of that block. This is going to COMPLETELY TRANSFORM East 125th Street and the surrounding area. Take a look at the web site.
