☞ SEE: West Harlem Lewisohn Stadium in Film

Modern film can often be a tool to look into the past and we were quite happy to find an old clip of the stadium in Hamilton Heights that was torn down in 1973. As we mentioned this past weekend, Lewisohn Stadium was literally a coliseum that was on City College's campus for half a century until it was demolished to be replaced by a modern academic building. Does anyone know what film this footage is from? Read more about the long gone stadium and see vintage photos in our past post: LINK

  2. We will have to see this film since it looks like it has some great shots of the city in the early 70's.

  4. A great NY movie and as a retired detective once told me, this is exactly how it was in the NYPD at that time. Another interesting point in the movie is Serpico rents a beautiful garden apartment on a quite street in Greenwich Village, unlikely now for a police officer in today’s real estate market.

  5. Another great NY 70’s movie starring Al Pacino, “Panic In Needle Park” which was 72nd and Broadway, how New York has changed.
