☞ EAT: Restaurant 321 Arriving on Lenox
The shabby, two-store wide commercial space at 126th and Lenox has seen some activity in the past week and apparently will have a new eatery arriving soon. There's a large tarp announcing the arrival of Restaurant 321 on the front of the facade at 321 Lenox Avenue and we are hoping it might be an upgrade to the usually moderate type of businesses found at this section of Central Harlem. Chez Lucienne is just a block south and it would be nice to have few more better offerings along the strip. The closest subway to this location is the 2,3 express on 125th Street. Photo by Ulysses

I'm so excited. Bring it on baby!
ReplyDeleteLenox Ave is the heart of Central Harlem. More shops opening up there will only reinforce that.
ReplyDeleteWhy is there not a real diner on Lenox???
ReplyDeleteAre the Greeks afraid of Harlem!!!
They should just call it the Lenox Diner. Has a better sound to it.
ReplyDeleteThis corner had a little fish restaurant a few years back with the wonderful name, “Porgy and Bass”. Good luck to this new endeavor.
ReplyDeleteThis will be the closest restaurant to my apartment so I hope it's good. It's a really big space if it is indeed using both storefronts. I hope whoever's running it understands how to fill out the space. Former uses in these storefronts include a wig shop and a fish shop, and they were selling Christmas trees out of there this winter.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time I also hope a lot of the local stores that have been here a little while like African Paradise and Black Star Video don't get priced out if their landlords attempt to lure more expensive tenants like Chez Lucienne. In the absence of any commercial rent controls in this city it can be hard to maintain that diversity.
Also the bodega at the NW corner of 127 and Lenox just reopened under new owners after renovation-- it's really clean and will be open 24 hours.
This section of the Lenox corridor north of 125th has been slowly improving over the years, little by little, with each new business raising the bar. Lenox has very good architecture, huge sidewalks and great transportation (2/3 trains), I see Lenox continuing to improve for a long time to come.
ReplyDeleteThis sign has been posted on that storefront for MONTHS, with very little action.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I remember seeing it four or five months ago. Any updated news on permits etc?
ReplyDeleteThere is a stop work order on the pizza restaurant that will be in that location. Court date in a couple of months.
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame. Pizza would do well (although a slice joint doesn't need that much space). After Slice of Harlem closed there hasn't been anywhere in Central Harlem to get a half decent slice.
ReplyDeleteIf they make it more of casual dining pizza parlor like Patsy's, that would do extremely well.
