☞ REVIVE: M & G Diner up for Lease

One of the most famous old storefronts in Harlem belongs to the M & G Diner at 383 West 125th Street (at Morningside Avenue) and now it appears the space is up for lease.  This is somewhat good news since the word out on the fate of the historic property was that condos had been planned when it shut down a couple of year ago: LINK.  The top photo shows the sign in a deteriorating state a couple of weeks back and the lower image is the tarp that went up this past week.  If someone just updates the interior in a classic way and restores the storefront, this would still be a great diner to have on 125th Street for old and new.  Let's hope whoever comes along gets its value and does the right thing.

  1. Someone will both lease this place and completely destroy the original signage or this place will continue to decay. That sign needs to be declared a landmark as a reminder of Harlem's glory days. We have streets packed with tourists on the weekends and this is exactly the type of place they want to pay 20 bucks for mediocre Southern food.
