☞ EAT: Harlem Presidential Visit This Tuesday

The Daily News traffic forecast for the week has the Presidential fund-raiser at the Red Rooster this coming Tuesday from around 6:00 PM-10:00 PM. Blocks between Lenox from 125th to 126th streets and on 125th Street between Lenox and ACP/7th Avenue will be the ones to avoid for those trying to drive through Central Harlem. 1. I wish the Red Rooster was a more accessible place to go for us locals (just in being able to get a seat sans being told you have a 2 or 3 hour wait). The Yelp reviews are approaching 100 in count, are quite 'mixed'. The irony? Due to not being able to get a seat I've gone next door to Chez Lucienne 3 times now and have had good experiences, I think they stepped up their game with the Red Rooster arriving and are benefiting quite well. A rising tide does lift all boats! Oddly Chez Lucienne is topping Red Rooster on Yelp, 3.5 stars to 3, isn't that interesting....

  2. I'm happy for Marcus. This is the second time I get a chance to see Mr. Obama in Harlem. The last time was when he was Candidate Obama and he went to the Schomburg. All I got was a brief glimpse of him entering the Schomburg at the entrance to the old building but that was enough for me.

I saw Marcus on 125th St. last week waiting for the bus in front of Staples and low and behold he got on the B15 with the rest of us and rode to Fairway.

  3. Greg, reminds me of when I first saw Obama a few years back, again when he was candidate Obama (possibly before then). I remember seeing him get out of a parked vehicle in midtown and walk into an office building past a large group of people coming out the other way. Just a regular fella heading to a meeting.

  4. This will put a big spotlight on Marcus Samuelson, Red Rooster, Lenox Ave and Central Harlem, all good publicity. Putting Harlem on more peoples radar and bringing more visitors to Harlem, if they can’t get a Red Rooster table, they will likely end up dining next door at Chez Lucienne. Red Rooster is a great ambassador for Harlem.

  5. @HarlemHeights: That's good to hear! This was the kind of effect on local dining that many of us were looking for.

Hopefully, Sylvia's and Lenox Lounge get the memo and improve thier game as well(I did read either here or on another blog that the Lounge WAS trying to improve in this area-so there may be hope yet).
