☞ BESPOKE: The New Ambassades on Lenox

It looks like the new Les Ambassades branch has taken a cue from the Red Rooster and has brought back a classic Harlem storefront.  A reader sent the above photo in from this morning and the new bulb light signage is now up at the shop just north of West 127th Street and Lenox.  This storefront at No. 341 is starting to look a lot better than the original further south down on FDB in our opinion since the colorful moldings, bright awning and classic signage are all there.  A lot restaurants look at others around them for inspiration so let's hope more stores along this line come along in the future.

  1. What do we think the "buffet" in that sign means? Are we talking a Manna's situation?

  2. Looks like.

That place is kinda small inside from what I've seen.

  3. Let's just hope for the best!! The success rate for "Buffet" restaurants a very good in Harlem, I was hoping for something like there other restaurant with a waiter staff.

  4. Jacob's Restaurant on 129th and Lenox is already a popular draw for the buffet crowd. This may prove to be a challenge for Ambassades Buffet - if they plan to compete directly against Jacob's.

  6. Think the buffet could consist of African cuisine?

They had the lights on last night, and it looked *great*. I didn't have a chance to take a photo, but it really made a good impression.

  8. I love it. This almost unspoken, agreed upon way of designing the signage is just awesome. A real throw back to the old days of Harlem and I can't think of any other part of NYC that has such an old school collection of bulb light signage such as this.

  9. The more businesses, restaurants, bars and clubs in particular that open on Lenox, the better. That will help pave the way to a real Harlem renaissance.

  10. Love Ambassades....such great food with great prices and everyone is so nice there...although I will go to the new spot since it's much closer to me, I am not fond of the buffet concept either, and much prefer the charming and authentic cafe vibe of the other location....
