☞ EAT: Tapas Restaurant For 1400 Fifth Avenue

The Kalahari just finally received a boutique hair salon at 116th Street but now it appears that the neighboring building on the corner of Fifth Avenue will soon have a tapas restaurant.  The Sunrose Group had been reviewed at last month's community board meeting for a liquor license and we found an announcement that confirms the 3,000 square foot corner space formerly leased by the defunct Ginger restaurant will indeed be rented to a new restaurant: LINK.  A reader just tipped us off that they asked the construction workers on site what the deal was and the guys revealed that a tapas restaurant will be arriving.

  1. This is very good news. That corner is a real boonand can pull foot traffic from all the new development in the area.

Ginger got great press but the food was mediocre and very overpriced. I wish good luck to the new contender.

  3. We can only hope that the food is on the A+ to A- level. I have met the owners and they are truly Spanish so that is a good sign :)

  4. Good news. Now if only something can be done with the vacant church on the northeast corner.

  5. Agreed Pignoli but these churches want a kings ransom for their spaces, spaces that they pay "0" taxes on.

  6. Such is the power of the religious community of Harlem...to the detriment of the community.
