☞ REVIVE: Meantime at 241 Lenox Avenue

The corner building at 241 Lenox Avenue has finally made progress in its restoration this past summer but the owner of one famous local shop on the ground floor may not be around to see the scaffolding go down in the future.  Walking by this corner of West 122nd Street this past week, we noticed that all the facade brownstone restoration had been completed since the workers were last seen applying the scratch coat out front this past summer.  The state of the interior is unclear but at least the exterior of the landmark brownstone in the Mount Morris Park Historic District has been saved at this point in time.

As far as Mike's Newsstand on the ground floor goes, we received a tip that the famous local kiosk passed out candy for the last time on Monday to local trick-or-treaters. Owner Mike Chappell has been running the stand in the past decade but old lore has it that the structure has been part of the neighborhood since 1932.  Does anyone have additional information on this situation?
