☞ SHOP: The Old Boma Coffee Shop Space
We kind of missed out on the Boma Coffee & Tea Co. at 2037 Fifth Avenue and 126th Street when it was open a few years back but what is more perplexing is that the commercial space still is vacant today. The location is on a pleasant block just north of the main commercial hub of 125th Street and the corner store is in good condition since Boma had fixed it up in recent years. This retail block appears to have had some ambitious starts during the height of the real estate market but now has been struggling to get an interested business into the vacant space.

Did they think of lowering their rent? That's usually the best incentive to attract businesses.
ReplyDeleteI miss Boma, but they could never quite figure out the right biz model--and the space was huge, so overhead had to have been killer. Spa was WAY ahead of its time. It's a good block, so only a matter of time.
ReplyDeleteI think the issue was that the original owner required that businesses interested in the space incorporate some sort of cummunity related component.
