☞ READ: Pink Teacup to Relocate to Harlem

The Times caught up with restauranteur Lawrence Page and it appears that downtown's Pink Teacup will eventually make its way uptown.  An original plan to have a second location at 200 Lenox at 120th Street did not work out because of the proximity to churches prevented access to a liquor license and thus the wine bar Auberge Laurent replaced that venture instead.  Downtown's Pink Teacup has recently shuttered in the past month so the news now is that Mr. Page wants to move the eatery to Harlem since many of his clients already come from Harlem or the Bronx. The assumption now is that new ventures such as the Red Rooster have already made Harlem a destination spot so having an iconic establishment as the Pink Teacup should have equal success uptown.  Read more in the Times: LINK

  1. Great news and sounds promising as he has an established client base in Harlem and the Bronx. I hope he chooses a space on Lenox for the Pink Teacup and wish Mr. Page success with the move.

  2. That spot down in the Village is cursed. Restaurants come and go like a revolving door.

  4. I went to Auberge Laurent for the first time this week and really liked it. The staff was great. However, can anyone explain why the decorated the restroom with an old chasity belt? I understand it's antique or whatever, but it is seriously the weirdest (and kind of disturbing) bathroom decoration.

  5. Mike, I might be wrong but I think the location you are thinking of is the old, original location that was indeed there for years and years. Lawrence Page bought the name (staff? recipes?) and it reopened on Varick. THAT place is cursed.

  7. This liquor license excuse just doesn't make any sense to many of us. He could have opened up a very nice restaurant and served wine in the 120th street site. Maybe he changed his mind once he found out that the Lenox Lounge will become available. Taking over that spot closer to 125th and a world renown jazz spot with a liquor license already in place, is very tempting.

  8. It'd be nice if the new one offers some healthier fare. new soul, if you will. I enjoy the space and the crowd but have gotten way too fat to eat so much of the menu. Love Harlem Bespoke.

  9. I have been to AL a few times since it opened. Had a great time every time I was there. I love that mirror in the back. Anyway, I would love it more if they had some more food, but can manage on cheese and cookies...

For those who have not been, I highly recommend...

  10. Well this is certainly good news. But one wonders if this young man would be willing to partner with the young woman who owned Sherman's and perhaps somehow incorporate the Sherman's menu onto the Pink Teacup. I miss Sherman's already and have been jonesing after those ribs with that delectable sauce.

I remember Charles of the soul food joint on FDB & 150th had partnered or consulted with a couple of restaurants that incorporated his signature fried chicken onto their menus. So perhaps Mr. Page could do the same.

  11. Speaking of Shermans, what is happening with the Shermans at 145th and ACP? I wish the community could have a fundraiser or something to help them raise the money to reopen. I walk past it every day and it's a shame to see such a landmark closed.
