☞ INTRODUCING: The Lenox Social

The storefront at 321 Lenox has been under construction since the fall and now a new sign has been placed up out front announcing the arrival of Harlem's latest lounge.  Bespoke readers have been sending in photos all week of the corner shop at West 126th Street and the Lenox Social now appears to be making progress for a debut sometimes in the next coming months.  There is an interesting trend here since Lenox Coffee just opened up a couple of blocks up and now this new night spot has adopted the name of Harlem's legendary avenue.  Then there is the original Lenox Lounge just below 125th Street which is the iconic establishment that started the name game but unfortunately is ending its lease: LINK

  1. I'm hoping this place takes the shape of many of the other places that come to mind named the "____ social." In other words a great place to get a drink or a simple bite to eat and not spend a fortune, the kind of place you like to default to when meeting friends.

  2. Some of these places seem to have the mind set of "oh a bunch of rich people are moving in, desperate for places to eat, so let's jack up the prices". That new fish place is ridiculous.

    2. Yes, why are some of the bars and restaurants up here so much more expensive than the similar establishments in other parts of Manhattan? Do I have to pay an extra dollar or two per drink for luxury of being able to go to a good bar in my own neighborhood? It's part of the reason why I don't go out in Harlem more often.

I haven't checked out the fish place or Harlem Shambles yet. Are their prices comparable to fishmongers and butchers in other neighborhoods?

That being said, I'm excited that more places are opening along Lenox north of 125th. Lenox coffee has been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. I hope Lenox Social does well.

Wasn't there another bar which was supposed to open along that block of Lenox Ave. They installed a fancy stone front to the building, but nothing seems to have happened with the space since then. Does anyone know what is going on with that space?

  3. I like the smart black painted construction hoarding, it gives the anticipation of a wrapped gift about to be presented to the neighborhood, which this block is well deserving of since this row of storefronts was referred to as the boulevard of broken dreams.

  4. Wonder if it's any relation to Lexington Social?

Also wonder if any of the old clientele from Seville Lounge, the bar that used to be at 126 and ACP, will be able to afford this place :\

  5. ah, when did Seville Lounge close? What a shame that is.

  6. There was a fire that spread to that whole row of businesses alongside Seville Lounge.

  7. I really do hope that this place is affordable. I went to Auberge Laurent this weekend and it was so overpriced.

  8. I hope that this place is reasonable and has a happy hour. I went to Auberge Laurent and it was so unaffordable. Spending $12 on a glass of wine seems ridiculous. I could go across the street and buy a bottle for that.

  9. I just realized they have a Facebook fan page with not much detail...

  10. I walked past the Lenox Social site on Saturday and it was buzzing with construction. Also, whatever the name of the bar that was supposed to open next to the Lenox social space has a sign up that they have applied for a liquor license.

I had the same impression of Auberge Laurent - a little more pricey than what I expected, and not a place I can necessarly afford to go to on a regular basis. Great atmosphere, but I wasn't able to enjoy it for long because I could only afford to get one glass of wine. Also, can anyone explain why they have a chasity belt hanging in the bathroom? as a woman, I find it really offensive.
