☞ SHOP: Royal Pet Care Arriving on Lenox
A Bespoke reader sent in a photo of the new pet shop arriving on Lenox and 119th street at the moment the awning was being installed a couple of weekends back. The location is at the shuttered Jamaican eatery that closed a few years back and looks like it could be a good fit for this Mount Morris Park Historic District strip since there are no specialty shops for pet owners. Does anyone know if Royal Pet Care has fully opened yet?

is it just or me or have all these new businesses raised the bar pretty high when it comes to creative exterior signage.places like harlem tavern, rooster, and les ambassades have really spoiled us...lol.now i look at a plain awning like this and cringe.i do hope this business does well though.
ReplyDeleteThey are still working on it.
ReplyDeleteBTW, a new nail salon is opining next to it!
We have been advised that the Grand Opening should be within the first week of April.
ReplyDeleteAgreed the awning won't win any awards, but I live nearby and I feel like everybody on my block has pets, so I imagine it will do well. I'm not a huge snob when it comes to retail - an open business is better than an empty storefront. I've generally been pleased with the other newcomers: the new liquor store, the "gourmet deli" on 121st & Lenox (which is actually very clean and has friendly owners). Despite the gorgeous sign, I'm the least pleased with Auberge Laurent (still think they need real food and some more affordable wine options). In the two block vicinity that'll be 5 less empty storefronts in the last year: liquor store, gourmet deli, nail salon, auberge laurent, pet store. I'll take it! Besides, who wants Lenox to look like Madison Avenue?
ReplyDeleteIt's an animal supply store, City Dweller. Not an upscale restaurant. I'm pleased to have that storefront open.
ReplyDeleteLast time I walked my pit by Auberge it was closed. But it was a Sunday night. . .
Ok, I think that comment is being taken the wrong way. I know it is a pet supply store. I too am happy that the space is being occupied. And I do not expect it have a red rooster decor. It was a comment on the awning's cookie cutter plainness in comparison to everything else being put out there. I certainly can advocate for splash more of creativity.
ReplyDeleteWe're kinda low rent down here. 119 is still a big drug block even though many have been warned off. I still walk with my pit even though everyone knows me me and me and my boy who is in a wheelchair. I see people strolling , talking on iPhones and not looking around and *I* wanna rob them just for being stupid.
ReplyDeleteNice to see a storefront filling, but There's a Petland 2 blocks away.
ReplyDeleteWow...I actually just searched and found the petland on 117 bet lenox and 5th. I had no idea there was a petland there!
ReplyDeleteSanou I could not agree with you more, they walk around oblivious to everything and then wonder why they got taken advantage of. Of course it is horrible that we have to make these refrains but why not put the truth out there.
ReplyDeleteIt is happening and these thugs are still out there. This by the way is why I don't really oppose stop and frisk, but that's an entirely different conversation.
