☞ EAT: What's Up with Miss Mamie's?

A Bespoke reader mentioned that they saw old tables being carted away at Miss Mamie's Too on West 110th Street and was momentarily worried that the southern eatery was closing.  When one of the gentlemen on site was asked about what was happening, he mentioned that they were just remodeling.  Apparently the red-and-yellow 1950s diner look is going away and there will be a grey interior with chandeliers arriving soon for a more contemporary feel.  Our Bespoke reader was also told that the menu and pricing will remain the same.

We kind of like the charm of the interior at Miss Mamie's and our only real complaint is that the facade could look a little more authentic with a more classic awning (the roll out type and not the molded kind), updated fonts and maybe some french doors and painted wood paneling to get a real southern flair going.  In our opinion, the interior is quite inviting but the exterior needs to engage customers a little more. Thoughts on Miss Mamie's going modern?

  1. The interior is ok, but I agree that the outside is of inviting. Topping the renovation list should be the AC unit location. It is directly over the entrance where it drips onto anyone passing through and creates a puddle underneath.

  2. I was the reader who saw the tables being taken away. One correction: The gentleman told me the menu would stay the same, but he didn't say what would happen to prices. I hope they stay reasonable. I really like the food there.

  3. As long as the menu doesn't change, I don't care what they do to the inside or outside. They have the best mac and cheese. I live closer to Miss Maude's and haven't noticed any renovations happening there.
