☞ EAT: A Night Out at Maison Harlem

Maison Harlem at St. Nicholas and 127th Street apparently had a successful weekend bringing in crowds immediately to this western corner of Central Harlem.  We dropped by with a guest not familiar with Harlem to give our support and review the space.  A diverse crowd filled the space by early evening on Saturday night and we were greeted by the hosted immediately upon arriving. The French owner was also making his rounds by greeting the crowd coming in while the front bar had several locals just hanging out and enjoying the warm atmosphere.

Everything in the interior had charm to it even down to the windows facing the kitchen.  Colored windowpanes played as the backdrop on one side of room and diners could actually get a glimpse of the cooking going on but had enough privacy to enjoy the moment. Wide plank wood floors, embossed tin ceiling and pendant lamps all added to the classic allure that one would expect at this price point.

Service is always a bit risky when trying out a new restaurant but everything went relatively smoothly upon this first visit. As far as food was concerned, everything was on par with what one would expect from a bistro downtown and diners were especially happy they did not have to go far to get home.
