☞ DWELL: Ugo Rondinone Moving to Harlem?
The media reported back in 2011 that the very notable Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone had purchased the abandoned Mount Morriah Church on Fifth Avenue with plans of making the building into community space but never mentioned anything about residential component. With that said, we walked by the building that is still under scaffolding on a recent visit to upper Fifth Avenue and noticed a curious permit out front.
Just back in July, the existing church was apparently approved for a non-commercial gallery and one residential unit. A new certificate of occupancy would now be needed but it appears that Mr. Rondinone might just be moving from the West Village to Harlem.
