☞ INTRODUCING: Korean in Greater Harlem

We ran into a Cobble Hill transplant recently while at The Grange pub who lamented on the fact that there was not much as far as Korean food to be found uptown.  With that said, we had to inform the young lady (who happened to be half Korean) that there were a couple of options in Morningside Heights that would be quicker than a trek to midtown's K-town.

First up is the former Mill Luncheonette on Broadway at 113th Street , which was formerly a famous Morningside Heights greasy-spoon Jewish diner. Now called The Mill, the restaurant has switched ownership and has been a quirky part of West Harlem since it converted into a Korean restaurant that still includes egg cream sodas and lime rickeys on their menu: LINK

As far as Asian grocers go, M2M (which has a large store in the East Village) has a small shop on Broadway and 115th Street.  The chain is about 80 perent Korean or Japanese in its selection mixed in with a few pan asian offerings.  Sliced kalbi, marinated bulgogi, a couple of version of kimchi and Korean prepared appetizers known as banchan can all be found here: LINK
