REVIVE: UPDATE AT WHOLE FOODS 125TH STREET SITE

The forthcoming Whole Foods at 125th Street and Lenox broke ground back in December and we walked by the construction site this past weekend to check on the progress.  Has much even happened since the plywood fence went up about 6 month ago?

For the first half of 2014, the lower level of the new commercial building has been the main focus and this always appears to take the longest to prepare.  This lower section has now basically been dug up and we expect some of the concrete foundation to be poured and set at least by summer's end.  Until this happens, not much will be visually rising on the spot anytime soon.  Check out the final rendering in our past post: LINK

  1. Yes, the long cold winter was no good for pouring concrete.

  2. I've heard varying projections on when the Whole Foods will open. Some in the neighborhood have told me 2016, but a sign on the plywood fence at the site says 2015. I sure hope it's 2015.

  3. I hope it is 2015 but doesnt feel like it is one year away (summer 2015) as originally promised. Speaking of whole foods (not the store, the concept!) - does anybody know when the farmer's markets return. I always thought it was May? Or is Morningside Park May and Mt. Morris July?

  4. I live two blocks away, and until the commenter above, I haven't heard anyone push it back to 2016. I do think the winter slowed things down but fingers crossed that it doesn't go longer than a year. This is going to be a game-changer for the neighborhood.

  5. 2015 is not at all unrealistic for a small building like this one, just a few stories high. I think they're still on track for a 2015 opening, even if it ends up being October instead of June.

  6. I used to work for the company years ago and this was just a rumor, finally.
