INTRODUCING: LUNCH SERVICE AT GINJAN CAFE

Harlem Bespoke: Ginjan Cafe on East 125th by Park Avenue has been slowly reopening since last summer and has now introduced a new lunch service.  We have not been able to make it over yet but will definitely have a review up in the near future.  Those who have been reading the blog for some time might recall that this is the only anchor business currently in the restored Corn Exchange Building and is worth the trip to check out the official New York City landmark.  More about the local coffeeshop startup can be found in our past post: LINK

CELEBRATE: THE 125TH STREET CHRISTMAS TREE 2020

Harlem Bespoke: The tallest uptown Christmas tree arrived at the plaza in front of the State Office Building yesterday at 125th Street by Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard and we noticed that things were progressing along this morning.  Several men were on site stabilizing everything and the star had been mounted up top already. This might be the only public tree to be seen uptown for December since all the local restaurant are using existing outdoor space for seating this holiday season.  Check out our past post on holiday trees to see how Harlem businesses decorated in previous years: LINK

☞ REMEMBER: When Harlem Saved a King

The documentary When Harlem Saved a King focuses on the events of September 1958 When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. nearly died at a book signing event at Blumstein's department store on 125th Street. A deranged woman stabs the civil rights leader in the chest and would have killed Dr. King if it were not for the quick thinking of two local police officers and the doctors at Harlem Hospital. Check out the video for the full trailer which has quite a few photos of Martin Luther King in Harlem and details the history even further.
