SEE: GRAFFITI EXHIBITS IN HARLEM

Monday, August 4th6:00PM-9:00PM, GETTING UP: The Evolution of Graffiti Opening Reception at Maison d'Art, 259 West 132nd Street between ACP/7th and FDB/8th Avenue.   “GETTING UP: “to develop your reputation or ‘rep’ through writing graffiti”. A visual representation on the evolution and cultural influence of Hip Hop Graffiti from New York to France will debut at the boutique gallery at La Maison d'art in the coming week.

City as Canvas Exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street.  The popular history of New York graffiti show has now been extended until September at the Museum of the City of New York in East Harlem and we were able to get out of cold to check out the small but fascinating collection.  Some of the best photos of the exhibits are of all the old subway trains that have been tagged and the above image shows one ambitious artist working between two such vehicles.  To our surprise, there were a few Keith Haring pieces on display which also included the icon's sketch book: LINK
