FOOD IN NEW YORK EXHIBITION AT MCNY

Food in New York exhibition at Museum of the City of New York, 104th Street and Fifth Avenue. Food is a powerful social network binding New Yorkers to each other and with countless others across the globe. The city's raucous restaurant scene; its ubiquitous street food; the current activist efforts to source food locally; the world's largest food market in Hunts Point; and the artists, thinkers, and designers who are imagining new sustainable ways to relate to food, will all be part of Food in New York: Bigger Than the Plate.

NEW THIS WEEKEND: UPTOWN TRIENNIAL 2023

Uptown Triennial 2023, on view June 23rd, 2023 through September 17th, 2023 at the Wallach gallery, 615 West 125th Street, west of Broadway, Wednesday-Sunday, 12:00PM-6:00PM.  Uptown Triennial 2023 is a visual arts tribute to the sonic world—in the realms of music, soundscapes, and spoken word—that resonates with the spirit of Harlem. The Triennial was originally conceived in 2017 as a survey of works by artists who live or practice north of 99th Street in Manhattan..

THE MUSEUM MILE FESTIVAL RETURNS 2023




Harlem Bespoke:   One of the city's biggest cultural block party will happening in June with free admission to all of the notable museums to be found on upper Manhattan including El Museo, The Africa Center, The Museum of the City of New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Cooper Hewitt and more.

SEE: RAISE YOUR VOICE EXHIBIT AT MCNY



Raise Your Voice installation at Museum of the City of New York, 104th Street and Fifth Avenue. Raise Your Voice is an immersive installation by Brooklyn-based artist Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya.The project mixes selections from the public art campaign “We Are More,” which depicted the resiliency of New York’s Asian American and Pacific Islander community, with original artwork of activists and allies Yuri Kochiyama and Malcolm X.

ART: VIRTUAL STUDIO MUSEUM ONLINE 2023



Harlem Bespoke:  The Studio Museum in Harlem’s permanent collection represents more than 700 artists, spans 200 years of history and includes over 2,500 works of art, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, watercolors, photographs, videos and mixed-media installations. Harlem Bespoke: Friday-Sunday, May 19th-21st 11:00AM to 7:00PM, 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, at Malt House in the Manhattanville Factory District, 439 West 127th Street by Amsterdam Avenue.  The Harlem location of Gavin Brown in Manhattanville shuttered in 2020 and now the West Harlem location in the old brewery building will be used for the occasional pop-up exhibit for New Yorkers to check out in the unique uptown space.

RESIDENCY: APPLICATIONS AT STUDIO MUSEUM 2023



Harlem Bespoke: Calling emerging artists of African and Latin American descent! Did you know that artist Kehinde Wiley started out in Harlem with a Studio Museum residency before taking the art world by storm?  The Studio Museum continues this legacy and is currently receiving applications for the 2023-24 Artist-in-Residence program. This eleven-month studio residency will be offered to three emerging artists working in any media and the application deadline is by May 22nd, 2023.  More details and online application can be found on the Studio Museum site: LINK

Harlem Bespoke:  Now open on Sundays! The Sugar Hill Children's Museum at West 155th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue was only open for viewing on Saturdays recently but now has Sunday as another day to visit.
