INTRODUCING: SUNFLOWERS ON WEST 127TH STREET
An empty tree plot at 127th Street just west of Fifth Avenue has apparently been put to good use by the neighbors. While walking by this section of Central Harlem in the past week or so, we noticed that gigantic sunflowers have been blooming quite well in the warm September days. There are so many enthusiastic gardeners uptown and it is good to see folks making use of a situation that was always meant to be a green one.

I live on this block and I'm so grateful to the neighbor who planted these. What a joy to see everyday - another reason to love Harlem!
ReplyDeleteI think this tree pit is slated for a tree. Notice the markings in spray paint next to it. Looks like they are going to expand the pit soon. The markings were not there in the summer.
