EAT: HUEVOS RANCHEROS AT THE GRANGE
Huevos Rancheros has become a new breakfast classic but not too many restaurants make the egg dish in a spectacular fashion uptown. We saw the egg offering on the brunch menu at The Grange by 141st Street on Amsterdam over the summer and finally tried out the eatery's rendition this past weekend. The first thing that impressed us once receiving our afternoon repast was the presentation in a cast iron skillet. A bed of fried black beans layered the bottom of the pan while too perfectly fried eggs and crisp tortilla covered the rest of the plate. Bright green salsa verde, pickled red onions and a garnish of jalepenos were also nicely contrasting accents which all came together colorfully. Needles to say, the sum was as good as the individual parts and those seeking a Rancheros style breakfast with a little extra should check out one of Hamilton Height's favorite dining spots.
