REVIVE: TASTYEE FACTORY SITE DEMOLISHED

It took almost over a year to finally demolish the former Tastee Bakery site that had previous adaptive reuse plans (lower photos) but everything seems to be finishing up for early 2015.  This block on 126th Street will now instead be entirely a glass box building that will serve as 300,000-square-foot of commercial space once anchor tenants come along. Apparently 10 to 30 companies will be able to fit into the completed new 11-story construction.  Curbed New York posted a rendering of the new designs a few months back but other than that, we do not really have additional details on what will happen to this industrial section of East Manhattanville: LINK

  1. unbelievable. the adaptive re-use would have been great.
Happy to see new use for old buildings.
BUT then they go and tear the whole thing down!
Landmarks is red tape nightmare - but what is the alternative when owners demolish what is good and would actually add character (and value) to their own developments..
