INTRODUCING: BABBALUCCI ON LENOX
Italian businesses are also making a comeback in Harlem and Lenox Avenue will soon have its first wood oven pizza spot opening by 126th Street. The new wood signage for Babbalucci just went up at the storefront under construction since September which replaces the more commercial Papa John's that used to be on this block of Central Harlem. Rustic or early century is definitely a big trend in the city and many uptown diners have been supporting these types of establishments over the years instead of the commercial looking chains that still persistently appear in the neighborhood: LINK

I think there was wood-oven Pizza on Lenox a few years back. Where Chez Lucienne is today was a wood oven pizza place and the owner also owned the Pizza place that was on West 135th & FDB. Later, he brought in other items like fried chicken & even had Charles of Charles' Country Kitchen on FDB as a consultant.
ReplyDeleteI dig the rustic feel. So much better than Papa Johns, thankfully!!
ReplyDeleteWhen does this open?
Any day now (Early April). My friend is the majority owner/manager. Just got off the phone with him (Bobby).
DeleteI was wondering what happened to this, I'm excited to see it's still happening. Lenox, especially upper Lenox, could use a few more eateries.
ReplyDeleteExcellent news. Papa John's is very poor quality pizza. Look forward to trying this place out. Nice to have more options on Lenox.
ReplyDeleteBabbalucci means Snails… will there be a snail Pizza on the menu?
ReplyDeleteGreat news, hope they sell individual slices
ReplyDeleteLove the changes coming to this part of Lenox ave. Bring it.
