EAT: BREAKFAST AT COMPANY ON EDGECOMBE
NOTE: WEEKEND HOURS ONLY SO MAKE PLANS FOR SATURDAY OR SUNDAY.
The catering service called Company on Edgecombe is basically an industrial kitchen at the corner of 159th Street on Edgecombe but has now become famous for their weekend dining service. We have heard a lot about the great local spot and noticed a steady stream of neighbors arriving at the storefront when we showed up at noon this past weekend. There is not much to the inside since the majority of the space is a functional kitchen but the small counter front and limited seating at the window bar and benches are a lucky area to eat at if one can snag a spot.
We had our eye on the egg sandwich with slab bacon on freshly baked croissant and have to say this one is the best to be had in town for $10 a pop. Nobody uptown seems to serve up slab bacon and this little takeout counter has a porcine portion that will not disappoint. Other sandwiches, baked goods, pot pies, pastries juices or coffee are also available to choose from and it seems like the majority of folks take it away since the seating situation is rather sparse. Nice find, I'll be checking them out and hope to snag a seat at the window bar
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I really like this place. First, it's in a picturesque section of Edgecombe- does not feel like the city at all if you walk up Edgecombe to get there, particularly in the fall. Second, the owners were really nice, and the food was great.
ReplyDeleteyou should try their buttermilk fried chicken.heavenly!
ReplyDeletewe Belgians love it,...
