INTRODUCING: NATIONAL JAZZ MUSEUM IN HARLEM
We finally made it over to the new location of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem right next door to Lenox Coffee at 58 West 129th Street just east of Lenox Avenue. The compact museum really impressed us with the recreation of a musician's parlor at the entrance along with the many pieces of historic artifacts on hand. There is also a modern performance space in the back which will showcase live performances during evening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
As an affiliate of the Smithsonian, the new space is the official historic establishment honoring Harlem's much talked about contribution to world that has been under represented in a more formal fashion until now. For more details, check out the museum website: www.jazzmuseuminharlem.org
