Born in Ethiopia and now living in Harlem with her husband and two children, Liya Kebede is another example of how Harlem
still has a mystique that attracts people from all over the world. After Naomi Campbell ruled the 90's as one of the original supermodels, Kebede took over after photographer Steven Meisel shot some photos of her for Italian Vogue in early 2000. Kebede recently also had an exclusive contract representing Estee Lauder and appeared on various Vogue covers along with last year's groundbreaking black issue of Italian Vogue. Ever thoughtful of her home country, Mrs. Kebede now has a children's line produced in Ethiopia.
