☞ REMEMBER: West 125th Street
This is a rare picture showing what West 125th Street looked like, circa 1898, before Robert Moses and the city decided that mega blocks of tall brown boxes would be better for the community. One can see the elevated 125th Street stop in the distance. The area between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue was considered "blighted" by the city, and all of the buildings on the left were torn down for government housing projects. Click on photo to enlarge.
