☞ WALK: Morningside Park

Morningside Heights is separated from central Harlem by a strip of grass, trees, pond and waterfall that make up Morningside Park. The cathedral of St. John the Divine crowns the most western cliffs of the park while the lower eastern rim provides more flat terrain for strollers and joggers alike. Central Park's designer, Frederick Law Olmstead designed the park in 1887 in a way that it would look somewhat rugged and not man-made so that a reminder of Harlem's country past may still be preserved for all. The boundaries of the park are 110th street to 123rd street between Morningside Drive and Morningside Avenue.
