☞ EAT: Kitchenette

One of the first restaurants based downtown to open up a branch in the reaches of Harlem, Kitchenette still serves up home grown dishes, New York style. This restaurant is just as wildly popular as its downtown brethren in Tribeca but at this branch, the crowd is very mixed, diverse and reflective of New York City at large. There is a bakery up front for a quick coffee and cupcake at a vintage diner setting or the urban country dining area in the back for those who want something more substantial. Known for its brunches but the dinner crowd has rediscovered this place lately. We just checked out lunch today and the place was packed and the burger was phenomenal. 1272 Amsterdam Ave between 122nd Street and 123rd Street. Tel.(212) 531-7600. Take the A, C, B, D or 1 train to 125th street.
