☞ WALK: Painted Signage


One often sees these original painted signs on side buildings in downtown and Brooklyn, but we have only noticed a few leftover in Harlem. In the case above, it's quite possibly because this is in a less precious factory building in East Harlem, right by the tracks. That said, Manhattanville on the west side has more old manufacturing buildings, but remnants of the painted billboards are lacking. Walk to 120 East 124th Street between Lexington and Park if you happen to be in the area.
