☞ EAT: Patisserie des Ambassades
Also known as Les Ambassades, this French-Senegalese restaurant aims to please everyone but it would seem that those looking for American food should steer clear. Senegal was a former French colony so this restaurant makes sense for coffee, pastries, croissants , and Senegalese favorites such as Fatayas (a savory, fried turnover, stuffed with fish). Stick to the cuisine of the country of origin since the brunch items tend to be lackluster. Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelson is a local and a patron so one might have a star sighting when dropping by. 2200 8th Avenue, between 118th Street & 119th Street. Tel.(212) 666-0078. Take the B,C or 2,3 to 116th Street or take A,B,C,D to 125th.
