☞ BESPOKE: The Doors of Morningside Park
The side streets of brownstones from 111th Street to 123rd Street, between Morningside Avenue and Manhattan Avenue seem to have one of the nicest assortment of intact, original or restored doorways in Harlem. Many periods and styles can be seen in the woodwork from intricate, Victorian Eastlake styles as the above photo to more modest Edwardian entries. What's also fascinating are the various finishes and conditions that these portals are in. Many look unfinished or have not been stained in some time while the more updated ones have rich high gloss varnishes using darker hues. Take the A,B,C,D to 125th Street or B,C to 110th Street for the tour.
