☞ SEE: The Giglio Festival in East Harlem
This weekend is the the big Giglio event in East Harlem. On Sunday, August 9th will be the men's lifting of the massive Giglio monument with a live band at its base. There will be a mass at 12:30 PM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Shrine Church and the actual lifting will commence around 2:00. Come visit this unique event and celebrate Italian Harlem. As with most festivals, there will be crowds, street vendors and food, so not a bad thing to head out to on a summer Sunday. See more on the East Harlem Giglio website: LINK. Go to Pleasant Avenue between 114th and 115th Street to get a good view. Take the 6 Train to 116th Street and walk east past 1st Avenue.
