The burgers, colas and fries chain, Checkers is arriving on Harlem's 125th Streets. Critics deem the franchise of drive-thru, retro-deco patty shacks a step up from McDonald's. This past summer, a city version of the franchise opened up in downtown Brooklyn (last photo) so alas, it's not a first in the NYC and there's definitely not any room for the retro drive-thru part either. The Harlem shop will take over the defunct seafood take-out on 125th Street, right before Broadway. The 1 train station at 125th is on the corner. Last photo courtesy of McBrooklyn Blog.
