☞ EAT: Charles' Country Pan Fried Chicken
We mentioned it back in October and the New York Times reports today that Charles Gabriel's original chicken buffet is back in business. After a car crashed into the store front, Charles' Southern Style Chicken has been closed in the past year and has now opened with the new name of Charles' Pan Fried Chicken. The no-fringe eatery is pretty basic on decor but the food is the thing that brings in the crowds. The star of the show is the thrice seasoned poultry cooked in a method that the chef picked up in North Carolina. There's also the usual southern specialties on hand but apparently the banana pudding is a knock-out. Read more about Charles Cabriel's in our past post about his Morningside Heights restaurant: LINK or go to today's NY Times: LINK Charles' Country Pan Fried Chicken is located at 2839-2841 Frederick Douglass Boulevard/8th Avenue, on the block of 151st Street, Tel.(212) 281-1800. Closest station is the 3 train at 148th Street. Photo by Michelle V. Agins
