☞ EAT: Ecuatoriana Restaurant
We always thought that the main strip of the Hamilton Heights Historic District didn't really have any shop options but the row of storefronts on Amsterdam, between 143rd and 144th Street are the essential restaurant row for the immediate area. The building on the block is apparently close enough to the historic district that all the stores have very classic signage and one of them includes a small Ecuadorian restaurant called Ecuatoriana. This specialty eatery is a one of a kind establishment in Manhattan and the food is quite authentic. There are some familiar options such as Ceasar salad or Cuban sandwiches but the main attraction here is the authentic Central American Cuisine. For the adventuresome, goat stew, green plantain meatball soup and ceviche might hit the spot but there are also roast pork dishes, empanadas and paella for those seeking familiar comfort food. For a sneak peek of all the dishes offered, check out the full menu here: LINK. Ecuatoriana Restaurant is at 1685 Amsterdam Avenue with the 1 or the A,B,C,D train at 145th Street as the nearest stops. Photos by Ulysses
