☞ SHOP: Mi Barrio Meat Market in East Harlem

East Harlem's old school meat market can be found at Lexington Avenue and the corner of East 117th Street. This family owned business is modern and new from inside out but still has an old world charm to it. Check out Mi Barrio Meat Market at 1875 Lexington Avenue, Tel. (866) 463–0695. The 6 train at 116th Street is the one block away from this location in Spanish Harlem. Photos by Ulysses. www.mibarriomeatmarket.com

  1. My grandmother used to send me to the butcher on 2nd Ave between 118 and 119th Streets with a list of meats. It was fun watching them carve up and pound the meat! I also remember the sawdust on the floor to keep you from slipping on the white marble floor.

  2. I think it's still there but no longer used as a butcher shop. We will have a post on it soon!

  3. You obviously have never been to Casablanca Meat Market on 110th Street between park and led. Best meat market in "El Barrio" hands down. They are the originals, all the rest are mere imitations.
