☞ WALK: Filming at Harlem Children's Zone
Geoffrey Canada's Harlem Children's Zone seems like it will be in a national commercial very soon. A Harlem Bespoke reader took a snap shot of some permits that were up along East 125th Street and Madison Avenue today and Amex is listed for a film shoot with Geoffrey Canada. ReplyDeletemost employees make minimum wage and are treated like "prisoners"
ReplyDeleteAnonymous No. 2. Do you have proof to back up these allegations? Perhaps those receiving minimum wage are doing minimum wage jobs. Those who are educators or paraprofessionals could leave and go back to traditional Dept. of Education jobs.
ReplyDeleteSanou's Mum, do you have proof Anonymous No. 2 statement is an unfair or invalid one? As of today, 2/21/10, the average HCZ salary is $36,000/year.

If those kids are bright and educated well at the HCZ, they'll learn citizens in their community NOT WORKING and enjoying the full scope of social welfare (sec. 8 public housing, food stamps, etc.) have a higher quality of life than the employees at the HCZ earning $36,000/year. Ironic, no?
"The average salary for harlem children's zone jobs is $36,000. Average harlem children's zone salaries can vary greatly due to company, location, industry, experience and benefits."
ReplyDeleteThe above quote is what the website SIMPLY HIRED fully advises. The second half is the key point, isn't it? If you go to college, then you get a higher paying job. That's probably what the student's will see at the school with the various levels of employment.
